Shweta Israni
Individual, Couple and Family Counsellor
“I work with you to make sense of what is happening in your life or relationship; to support you and navigate a path forward with greater clarity”
Expert guidance.
Shweta draws on extensive knowledge and experience of working with individuals, couples and families and focuses on supporting clients to work through their challenges and establish more fulfilling relationships.
With couples, Shweta has expertise to help with conflict, communication problems (not being heard, stonewalling, feeling criticised or misunderstood), loss of trust, betrayals and affairs, lack of connection or feeling disconnected from one another and low intimacy. She also specialises in managing ADHD and anxiety individually and within relationships, and working with different cultural influences.
Her work with families covers separation and divorce, family disagreements or estrangements, living as blended or step-families, and parenting. Navigating communication challenges and disagreement within adult or older families is also a specialty.
Shweta has particular interest in working with individuals to help them navigate relationship issues, better understand their attachment style, learn to recognise and move away from negative connection patterns or cycles. She also has specific expertise in the areas of disordered eating, body image concerns and low self-esteem.
Warmth and insight.
Shweta brings positivity and thoughtfulness to her therapy sessions. Her non-judgemental approach makes her easy to talk to and clients build long-lasting, trusting relationships with Shweta.
Her approach is collaborative and flexible. By clearly identifying the issue at hand and understanding what her clients would like to achieve, she supports them to find a way forward with greater clarity and certainty.
Shweta integrates her training to draw from Solution Focused, Narrative, Systemic, Gottman and Emotionally Focused Therapy. She is involved in on-going professional development in trauma-informed approaches, managing emotions, managing conflict, narcissism, the Developmental model of couple therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.
Pragmatic solutions.
Shweta’s style is straightforward and action-oriented.
