Filomena Leone
Couple, Individual and Family Therapist

“No matter how difficult things are right now, I will work with you to clearly understand your personal and relationship goals and help you reach a happier, more harmonious place”

Positive and collaborative.

Filomena is a compassionate and warm therapist who has helped many people see things in hopeful, new ways. She supports and guides individuals, couples and families using a strengths-based, integrative, intuitive approach that fosters collaboration with clients.

She has a keen interest in helping couples at all stages of their relationship. From the early stages of planning a future together, to becoming parents through to the transition of children leaving home and beyond. She works with separated couples, blended families and couples who deal with neurodivergence – ADHD and ASD. Filomena is also comfortable and adept with gender and sexuality issues for individuals and couples.

Filomena helps family clients of adolescent ages and above. She understands that bridging and balancing the needs and perspectives of family members can be a struggle. She supports her family clients to have difficult conversations that feel too hard without help.

Many years’ experience.

Filomena’s clients benefit from her many years of professional experience. She upholds client-lead, ethical practice. Her work is informed by systemic couple and family therapy, positive psychology, solution-focused therapy and psychodynamic theory (linking the past to the present). She stays up-to-date with the latest in training and development to guarantee best practice.

Many clients feel more confident knowing that their therapist has life wisdom, not just professional credentials. Filomena brings both professional qualifications plus a lifetime of experience. She is comfortable with clients of all ages and stages, and more importantly, clients feel comfortable and connected with her.

Filomena was inspired to become a relationship therapist from her time working as a radio broadcaster hosting a ‘Love song dedication’ evening show. “I talked to hundreds of lovelorn people and wanted to offer more than just music. Today I am doing exactly that, and I love it.”

Freedom from feeling stuck.

Filomena works with people to move from reliving past patterns to creating more fulfilling futures. Her motto ‘Don’t drive through life only looking in the rear-vision mirror’ becomes clear to many people she works with. Filomena guides and supports people to create the lives and relationships they want, rather than being condemned to repeating old ways.

Filomena knows that change takes time and practice especially when it comes to improving communication issues. She has the empathy, insight and skills to help her clients take steps towards more fulfilling and meaningful relationships. Filomena coaches clients so they have the practical tools to continue the positive changes they achieve in therapy.

She knows that positive changes are possible with the right skills, support and encouragement matched with the motivation to work towards a more authentic life.
