David Rosa
Individual, Couple and Family Therapist

“My belief is that deep understanding, of which everyone is capable, supports important personal and relational change”

Evidence-based approach.

David is a warm and measured therapist whose practice draws on the best evidenced approaches to couple and family therapy. It is important to him to create an environment in which clients feel safe and heard.

David has a particular interest in working with couples who experience conflict or trust issues, or who are going through significant life changes, and with couples who are embarking on their ‘next significant relationship’. He is also interested in working with families, and particularly adult families, who are struggling to understand how to communicate with one another. He is able to support parents in intact and post-separation situations to become happier and more confident parents. David also has a special interest in supporting men to talk about relational and emotional challenges, and has a strength in helping all individuals dealing with depression and anxiety.

Broad experience and skill set.

David brings to his practice a deep understanding of the components that make for healthy, strong relationships and nurturing and effective parenting. His background as a business leader and coach has helped him develop strong skills in analytical thinking and problem-solving. His professional experience, including running groups for men to talk about their life experiences, and working with complex couple presentations, has helped him hone a strong emotional intelligence.

In his work with couples and families, he draws on systemic approaches, Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method. In his work with individuals he draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and CBT.

Compassionate and empowering.

David’s approach to working with couples involves helping them understand the foundations of their communication problems and emotional responses to each other. Working systematically and at a pace with which clients feel comfortable, he helps people to uncover their true needs and express them without fear.  His aim is to support couples to achieve lasting and meaningful change in how they are able to care for each other and deal with life’s difficulties.
